Do you ever feel like you're just, generally...failing?
I can definitely feel you on that one! There have been plenty of times in my life when I've been trying to keep a million plates spinning in the air -
tons of projects at work, saying 'yes' to everything, because it's interesting/I want to do it/who else is going to do it/I want to be helpful
trying to be the best Mum I can be, and raise my beautiful, creative, challenging, fun, whirlwind of a boy to be independent and confident and happy
trying to keep some semblance of order in the house and get us all fed and (vaguely) clean
supporting my vulnerable Mum and Dad
being a good friend, being a good neighbour, being part of the school community, volunteering, and maybe, just maybe finding some time to be healthy and have some fun for myself....
And somehow, it would always surprise me that I ended up doing none of those things particularly well!!!
Well....duh!
Does this sound familiar? There's a good reason for that…
You're a high achiever. You've worked really hard to get to where you are in your career, and you've accomplished a lot - both at work, and in your personal life.
But here's the thing. High achievers are hard-wired with a do-more mindset.
We do lots, gets stressed, and respond to that stress by working harder, in all areas of our life. We work more hours, we stay up late to get 'life stuff' done, sleeping less and robbing ourselves of energy from tomorrow.
We push harder and harder, and the hamster wheel goes round faster and faster. We get more and more tired, everything starts to slip, so we....push harder. We start cutting corners, and those corners always get cut from our lives outside of work.
You're not failing, not at all. You're simply being TOO awesome!
Simplify your life, and the same mindset will suddenly become your superpower - instead of doing more things, you'll be doing more with the things that are truly important to you...
…and you will do them oh, so very well.
Simplify your life and step into your superpower!
